Dr. Sam Mensah, Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Sam Mensah is the Executive Chairman of SEM Capital Management Limited. He is a Financial Economist and a Certified Management Accountant (Society of Management Accountants of Canada) with previous experience as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Michigan. He holds a PhD and an MBA in Finance from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Ottawa. He has consulted extensively for Ghanaian firms and international clients including the Ghana Stock Exchange, Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, USAID, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank and the Canadian International Development Agency.

Ebenezer A. Barnes, Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Ebenezer A. Barnes is the Senior Advisor and board member for SEM Capital Management Limited. He holds an MBA with concentration in Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester, New York. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. His areas of expertise include Investment analysis and portfolio management, corporate finance, institutional assessments, project finance, strategic planning, economic research and project monitoring and evaluation, etc. He has been a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School teaching EMBA class in investment analysis and portfolio management and the director of the Ghana Stock Exchange Securities Industry Course for several years.

Executive Director, Asset Management

Okwei Dowuona is the General Manager of SEM Capital Management Ltd. He is a seasoned portfolio risk manager with over 5 years risk management experience obtained at a global bank. He started his career as an Analyst with Sovereign Bank (now Santander Bank NA) in the US. At Sovereign Bank, he rose to become the Portfolio Risk Analyst in charge of the bank’s small business loan portfolio, a portfolio of about $1.0bn. In this role he also provided monthly executive summary reports on the risk profile and the financial performance of the bank’s Retail Credit Risk loan portfolio, a portfolio with over $20bn in loans outstanding. Mr. Dowuona is an Affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Coast and an MBA with concentration in Finance from Northeastern University, Boston MA.
